Call-Out: Producer, The Coffee Shop Musical (Part-Time)
Decription
leo&hyde are a Northern musical theatre company. We're a small and friendly team, who get excited about new music, theatre and technology.
The Coffee Shop Musical is a site-specific musical, set in and about an independent coffee shop - but told from the perspective of AI narrators. We’ve had two weeks of enthusiastically received performances in Manchester, and are looking for a producer to lead on booking and executing a UK tour.
Though it’s a small-scale production, we have big dreams for it touring round the country. The producer will lead on booking several weeks of performances in indie coffeeshops, coordinating the rehearsals and performances, managing budgets, and envisioning a future plan. We’re looking for an experienced producer to lead on this journey - someone friendly and proactive to build connections with coffee shops, but someone ambitious and organised to be able to build a robust and smooth production.
This role suits someone with experience in producing theatre, and confidence to complement the skills of our team, and help strengthen some of our weaknesses. The role will include the following:
Tour booking - Scouting for appropriate coffee shops; building warm relationships with their managers; site-visits (travel is covered).
General managing - Organising the rehearsal and production process; managing the budget; co-ordinating between creatives, technical, marketing and actors; writing contracts and agreements.
Funding - Making funding applications, such as to the Arts Council, and reporting / evaluations where appropriate.
Desirable
Experience in the commercial sector, to lead on developing a commercial model for the show in the long term.
Experience in site-specific work.
A Northern-base. The initial tour will be to Sheffield, Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds. However, we work remotely, and being based further afield is fine too.
We warmly welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.
PRACTICALITIES
Times
Flexible hours, other than availability to attend a weekly Monday meeting.
2 days per week from May to July, though this can be flexible, with more or less depending on agreement and other commitments.
We use Toggle to track time in the company as a fair way of accurately measuring freelance time spent on projects.
Fees
£175/day for up to 20 days (total, £3500).
This contract may well be extended depending on the outcome.
